Apparently an Australian “Dr” has figured out how to “cure” eating disorders- indeed!
And this can all be done with a 95day CD program, “The Complete Eating Disorder Program”- which states it will “fix” an eating disorder and stop it from ever coming back all for the money-saving cost of $369, and there is also a cheaper CD pack for under $300.
But it gets even better because as Dr Irina points out “all eating disorder sufferers have subconscious blockages and these blockages are the reason people have the disorder. Once the blockages are identified and removed the eating disorder is gone.”
*POOF* Just like magic- the eating disorder is done, gone- finis.
There are no short cuts recovering from an eating disorder, there are no quick “fixes”, or easily prescribed “cures”; and there is absolutely no evidence or research supporting a 95day treatment/CD program, (if only it were this easy!) I think Ms Irina could use some feedback from parents and clinicians who might be able to shed some light into a rather delusional and/or profit-seeking mentalily.
Truly I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. And you have to wonder if Dr Irina were residing in the states, I’m not sure this type of quackery would go unchallenged.

PATHETIC need I say more. I guess we should not be surprised as we live in a society where everyone wants and seeks out an instant fix or instant gratification. I was recently reminded by a dear friend that when in a state of desperation we all want a fast and pain free resolution especially when our loved ones are suffering. There is not a single ounce of me that believes that these CD’s will facilitate anything except perhaps boredom but I can understand a sufferer or family member purchasing them to seek relief. It is pathetic that this individual is seeking to capatalize on others desperation! Please Carrie award her a smooshed face kitty award!

Wow..I wonder how many buyers she had? At the rehab I worked at we had a joke that if the amount of literature you purchased to help you stop your eating disorder weighed more than you, you have a problem. Funny…sort of Why not prevention? Check out our site on Eating Disorder prevention using art with girls… http://www.rewritebeautiful.wordpress.com

RB– Thanks for stopping by and commenting, I appreciate it.
It’s incredibly disheartening to still witness EDs being treated as some type of (pardon the expression) ‘cash cow’. And it’s not only individuals who claim to have ‘cures’ for this serious illness, some far-fetched facilities, clinics, therapists and even major treatment programs attempt to play this destructive scenario on the already exhausted and struggling– it’s truly a sham– I mean shame!
I briefly took a look at your website and love the work your organization is doing– FAB-ulous! Keep it up, the more of us working for change in the world of EDs the better. *shanti -t
